ENGLAND PAIRED AGAINST SWISS IN PLAY-OFFS
In the play-offs for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup taking place in Germany, England have been paired against Switzerland. It has now been confirmed the England will play their home leg in the Midlands at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium, home of Shrewsbury Town FC on Sunday 12th September. A kick off time will be confirmed in due course along with Ticket Information. The return leg in Switzerland will take place on either Wednesday 15th September or Thursday 16th September. Full details to be confirmed later. Head Coach Hope Powell told TheFA.com; “We wanted to be one of the seeded teams in this draw and to that extent, we are happy to face Switzerland. On paper, we will be expected to qualify for the World Cup, but we cannot underestimate the Swiss, "We played them this year in the Cyprus Cup tournament and drew with them, so we do have recent experience of how tough they will be. They are an improving side with some talented young players, and they will want to be in Germany next year as much as us, they will be working hard to try and get there."We must now prepare ourselves diligently for these two upcoming games and ensure we give ourselves the best chance to qualify.” The other three ties are as follows; Ukraine v Norway - Sweden v Denmark - France v Italy - The four winners will advance to the finals in Germany next summer, while the non-starters will compete for the opportunity to face the third-placed CONCACAF nation in a last play-off.

ENGLAND RETURN TO THE MIDLANDS FOR PLAY-OFF GAME
Shrewsbury Town's Greenhouse Meadow Stadium will be home for England's crucial World Cup qualifying play-off next month. It will be the third time Shrewsbury have hosted Hope Powell’s side inside the last four years. Two months after reaching the last eight in the 2007 World Cup in China, England travelled to the then ProStar Stadium to play a UEFA Championship qualifier. The clash with Spain attracted a crowd of nearly 9,000 supporters with Karen Carney’s second half goal sealing the points for the Three Lionesses, England returned to Shrewsbury again for a friendly with Norway in April 2009 and beat one of the world’s top teams by three-nil a Lindsay Johnson header along with a Fara Williams brace sealing victory at that occasion for Hope Powell's side.

Powell will discover the identity of her side’s play-off opponents on Monday 30th August when the draw is announced at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, though whether England will be seeded depends upon tonight’s result between Denmark and Scotland. If Scotland avoided defeat in Vejle, then England will be seeded, along with Norway, Sweden and France. However, if Denmark beat Scotland, then the Scandinavians will be seeded. Regardless of which team England is paired against, the first leg will take place on either Saturday 11th or Sunday 12th September and the second leg will be played four days later on either Wednesday 15th or Thursday 16th September. The dates for each of the four play-off matches will also be confirmed next Monday. The play-off winners will join hosts Germany in the World Cup Finals in June 2011, while the losing country will be required to under take a second play-off against a country from the CONCACAF region.

Full details will be confirmed after the draw on Monday, including ticket info, prices and kick-off times. “We are really looking forward to the play-offs,” said Powell. “We ended our qualification group with a good display and a good victory in Austria at the weekend and the squad will be really focused for September.“We know that only one part of the job is complete; we have to qualify for the World Cup, and we will be doing everything we can to ensure we get there.Playing at Shrewsbury Town holds some great memories for myself and the players,” she continued. “We have got a good record at that ground and our last performance there against Norway was a great result in front of a big crowd, so we are pleased to be going back to Shrewsbury for what is such a crucial game, We have two more matches to ensure we make it to Germany next year, and it’s imperative we get a good result at home. It would be fantastic to have a huge crowd which can get on our side and really inspire the players. I’m urging everyone to come down, bring the kids and get behind the team. “Hopefully we can put in a performance, send the fans' home happy and get the result we need.”

Shrewsbury Town’s General Manager Jon Harris said: “It is a great honour for Shrewsbury Town FC to be asked to host the England Women’s team for a third time. This game will be a very important one in England’s push for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals, and it once again puts our club on the world stage. The two previous games that we have hosted have been a success for England on the pitch, with two wins so far, and also for Shrewsbury Town off the pitch. I am confident that this will be the case once again. We look forward to welcoming Hope and the squad to the Greenhouse Meadow Stadium, and we will be doing all we can to help support the team for this important encounter.” England qualified for the play-offs after securing the pole position in Group 5, ahead of Spain, with the Three Lionesses having achieved seven wins and a draw from their eight group matches.

FOXES REVEALED NEW VIXENS
With the new season upon us, the Leicester City Women FC kicks off their Northern Premier League campaign away to newly promoted Rochdale AFC Ladies. The club has been busy in the summer months. First there was a change of personnel, in the Manager’s chair, Leicester City’s Football in the Community Director, Craig White, stepped into the breach to become Manager. Craig then set about to try and strengthen the squad, when former City player, Rachel Williams, who is now a full England international, also a Leicester girl, was delighted to sign, as her present club, Doncaster Belles, are waiting for their Super League campaign to take off in March 2011, also from the Belles, is Emily Simpkins, and she has also signed for the City. Meantime goalkeeper Leanne Hall has joined the coaching staff to add her knowledge and experience to the game and Natalie Reay has also come back to the club after a brief spell at Midlands rivals Aston Villa, and the Leicestershire club have just acquired the services of former England player and TV Soccer pundit, Jo Potter from Birmingham City Ladies, the Foxes also hope to add one more signing before the weekend to add some more depth to the squad. With Williams, Simpkins and Potter on board it is hoped that this will give them a little more experience for which is still a relatively young side developing with some of the existing players having now experienced the Northern Premier League for two seasons where Katie McLoughlin has just been selected for England’s U/19’s training. Manager, Craig White, says "it is going to be a tough season in this league but we all have aspirations to try and do well and see where it takes us at the end of the season"

The development of the youngsters is there for all to see at City. They have signed for the Women’s squad, from their COFE U/16’s side – Jess Hickey, Grace Teah, Nat Johnson, Jade McLaurin, Anya Cresswell, Claire Lester and Annabelle Johnson, who comes from Northampton’s COFE, with some of them already having played for the first team in pre-season friendlies and have done very well. They will have to develop and learn in a tough Northern Division 1 reserve section having just been promoted as Champions and plying their trade against the likes of Liverpool, Everton, Sunderland and Blackburn, etc, nevertheless, the Club has high hopes of the youngsters. The first team has just moved to Oadby Town FC to play their home games at Greene King Park.

WOMEN'S FA CUP CHANGE FOR THE BETTER?
Worryingly changes for the better in all walks of football not least of all Women's Football has been hard to pin-point over the years but hang-about is the FA's decision to scrap the Preliminary Round traditionally played on the opening Sunday in September, which has in the past been many clubs first game of the season - a change for the better?, Many Mangers in the past have been left scathing that entry into the Women's FA Cup presented them with their opening fixture and thrust them into a cup competition with financial rewards with little or no match preparation. However, this season looks to be different with the Famous Cup competition not swinging into action until October, which will invariably please many managers as they look ahead to the big kick-off without the usual FA Cup Migraine in the hope of prizing the Women's FA Cup from the hot sweaty palms of Everton Ladies.

EXODUS LED TO WORCESTER CITY'S DOWNFALL.
Worcester City Women’s Football Club folded just months after the first team won their second promotion in two seasons. In May, the team, managed by Graham Abercrombie, secured a place in the Midland Women’s Combination, two levels below the top-flight FA Women's Premier League and their highest ever position in their eight year history. However, with just weeks to go until the new season started Worcester City were forced to pull out of the Midlands Combination following an exodus of players. Abercrombie returned to the UK from a coaching spell in the US to find the majority of the reserve team had been conscripted to new club Worcester United by Ryan O’Connor, formerly Worcester City’s second team manager.

Several of the first team squad had also left the club, although not all have opted to join United, and there were concerns the club could not support itself at the higher Combination level. Playing in the Midland Combination, against the likes of Aston Villa and Wolves, would have seen a huge step up in standard as well as an increase in running costs Chairwoman Debbie Band said: “To play at that level needs a huge amount of commitment as well as a full squad. Last year at its best it was very much a squad situation and not just the same 11 players. Our survival is in the balance at this point." Band formed the club eight years ago with Vicky Andrews, who left her role as club captain earlier in the summer, during which time the team enjoyed a rise in stardom from the Kidderminster County Women's League to the West Midlands Regional setup. In the past two season Worcester City Ladies secured the West Midlands Southern League title and followed-up that success with securing the Premiership Division title earlier this year. There is still a chance the club could continue, but it will have to play at a lower level. Any players interested can call Band on 07952-498738.

FIVE STAR "TOWN LADIES" LOOKING FORWARD TO NEW CHALLENGES
Midlands Combination newcomers Stratford Town kicked-off their preseason scheduled with a five star performance as they comfortable beat West Midlands Regional League opponents Ferndale Ladies With last seasons' top-scorer Lisa Slowther, who hit home 29 goals in the Shakespeare Sisters West Midlands Premiership campaign bagging a hat-trick in the clubs 5-1 win, Slowther has been tracked by several Midlands Clubs after impressing in-front of goal over the past two seasons However, stability in the Town Ladies hot-seat over the past few seasons has been a major issue with no less than three managers passing through the revolving door at the DCS Stadium Mark Bickley, Ross Thorpe and former Northampton Town and Birmingham City Professional Ian Clarkson all under took spells in command in-fact you have to go back sometime to find a manager that has stood the test of time and endured anything of a lengthy stay at the helm of the Shakespeare sisters'

Scottish native David Guthrie was Town Ladies team-chief during the clubs golden years at Mason's Road in-which the Club as a whole won silverware under arguable one of the best managers on the Non League Circuit Lenry Derby who twice led the Sisters male counterparts to the Polymac Services League cup.Incoming Manager Vaughan Smith has had spells in charge at West Midlands Regional Leagues sides Fairfield Villa and Cannock Town Ladies. Although Town Ladies do still process some squad members who turned out during Guthrie rein in command, including leading scorer Lisa Slowther the squad has been refreshed over the past few seasons and Smith looks likely to continue that tread with Town Ladies Fielding a Reserve Team for the first time in their history. Smith's quest will be purely one of a damage limitation exercise as he takes on the challenge of keeping the "Sisters" head above water and preserving their new found league status. The likes of Stoke City, Sporting Club Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have big squads will prove big tests for a Town Ladies team which finished third in the West Midlands Premiership last season but who have been handed promotion after Worcester City Ladies folded and relinquished their League status. And another bonus for Smith is the fact Town Ladies will now have exclusive rights to play the Main Pitch after tenets' Birmingham City ladies were awarded Super League status. Meantime Stratford Town Ladies are seeking Sponsors for their forthcoming Midlands Combination crusade which kicks off against Northampton Town Ladies at the DCS Stadium in Stratford Upon Avon on Sunday 5th September Stratford Ladies are looking for any companies which would like sponsorship opportunities to e-mail stratfordtownladies@hotmail.com or call Anna Jones on 0771 7757171.

LAW AMENDMENTS FOR 2010/2011 SEASON
There are a few changes for the forthcoming season to the Laws of Associated Football - These are as follows - Law 1 – The Field of Play - Goal posts Must be square, rectangular, round or elliptical. This means goalposts of any other shape are not permitted. Law 5 – The Referee - In the section where players must leave the field of play after receiving treatment. The added exception for removal from the field of play is: Players from the same team have been involved in a Collusion and need immediate treatment. It was considered unfair that players of the same team who collided were required to leave the field of play to receive treatment, leaving the team concerned at a distinct numerical disadvantage. Law 14 – The Penalty Kick - Feinting in the run-up to take a penalty kick to confuse opponents is permitted as part of football. However, feinting to kick the ball once the player has completed his run up is considered an infringement of Law 14 and an act of unsporting behaviour for which the player must be cautioned. In view of an increasing trend in players feinting to take a penalty kick to deceive the goalkeeper, it is necessary to clarify what is permitted and what action in the event of an infringement.

SUPER LEAGUE WARNING

A key football finance expert has forewarned organisers of the English Football Association’s New Women’s Super League that it may take over a decade for the league to be a commercial, vibrant and playing success story. In less than a year from now the new FA Women’s Super League will kick off with eight teams playing in the competition’s inaugural season. However, Professor Mr Simon Chadwick from Coventry University is unconvinced about the league’s short-term future prosperity on English Soil due to England’s cultural history, and says: “ I think we live in a largely male dominated society and in social terms, women have only started to break down the barriers in the last 30-40 years, so I wouldn’t say it is going to be a commercial or playing phenomenon overnight, it’s going to take decades to do it "

Following 16 bids from many existing women’s teams, only eight clubs were granted Super League Licences for the new championship after having to provide information on financial, business management, commercial and marketing, facilities, players and support staff. Arsenal Ladies, Birmingham City Ladies, Bristol Academy Women, Chelsea Ladies, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Everton Ladies, Lincoln Ladies and Liverpool Ladies will go head to head when the new league kicks off in March 2011. However, Chadwick pin points too the lack of social and structural organisation now in the women’s game as a major difficulty the new women's competition will face in its infancy.

He says: “I think in industrial terms men’s football has got first mover strategic advantage over the women’s game. The structures, culture, resources and organisation are there women’s football doesn’t have that. It has to set up its own structures and organisation, and it has to create an attractive commercial proposition. However, it’s not doing that in isolation, it’s doing it up against competition from the men’s game.“I would love to see it prosper because I dislike many of the macho aspects of the game as we know it. There’s a tough need for there to be a greater female contribution for the development of sport in this country, but I think sadly we are not going to get that any time soon. It will take decades rather than years.” One reason why The FA developed the new league women's super league under key supporter of the Women's game and former chief executive Ian Watmore was to compete with the USA in an attempt to get the best players playing in England. Chadwick believes that it is a completely different situation in the USA because the men’s game has nowhere near the chequered history that it does in England.

He says: “If you look at the development of women’s football in the USA it’s got completely different social cultural foundations. In Britain men play and women watch.“Although that’s changed, that’s what it’s been historically. On Shrove Tuesday men always played and women watched. The gender DNA of football is based on that. We are trying to engage in genetic modification to change football from a men’s game to a family game but the cultural heritage is already set. In the USA they didn’t have that and that’s why women’s football in places like china Norway and the USA is taking off. Women in this country have had a subsidiary role in the last 150 years.”

According to FA statistics, 1.1 million girls currently play football in England and Chadwick foresees a positive future for the women’s game and believes it could attract a good television deal and sponsors. However, he thinks it will never run alongside the men’s Premier League Chadwick said: “I think what it will be is that it will become well established, but it won’t be a mass market it will be a very sturdy niche market. If you look at Moto GP and Nascar it’s incredibly strong commercially, but it's not strong in this country, it’s a niche sport. It’s not the NFL, it’s not the NBA - it appeals to a particular set of people. “I think women’s football could become strong and vibrant and there could be some nice sponsors involved with good TV deals. The national team may prosper and win something like the World Cup, but I don’t think the New Women's Super League will become a mass market like the Premier League has become” - Britain’s Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe believes the Super League will be a accelerator for more female involvement in football. He commented: “It’s fantastic that the Women’s Super League is a step closer getting off the ground. Women’s football is one of the fastest growing sports in the country but there is still room for further growth. The Super League will shine the spotlight even brighter on the women’s game, encourage younger women to take up the sport and help develop stars that will represent the ever-improving women’s national team.

Shoo's That Girl Leading The Lads

Top Premier League footballer Heather Scheuber has taken on the unique challenge of leading a Men's Football Team Boughton Athletic to glory. Heather Scheuber is better known within the Women's game as the captain of Midlands Top Flight Premier Division side Birmingham City Ladies. However, the England youth international is also the manager of Boughton and, having helped the club survive the drop out of the men’s Chester & District League Division Two, she is determined to win promotion this season. The 21-year-old Women's Soccer Star from Waverton took over the managerial reins Boughton last year. She is only the female football manager in the male dominated league and is thoroughly enjoying the challenge and the responsibility that comes with the Managers' job. “I think it’s interesting because most of the team is older than me, but they listen to me and respect me because I play at a higher standard than them,” said Scheuber. “I train with them and take some of the tactics and drills I pick up at Birmingham and use them to improve Boughton. “My lads listen to me and know when I tell them something it is worth putting on the pitch.I get a bit of banter from the other teams, and they wonder whether I know what I am talking about, but they soon find out.”

The former Christleton High School pupil has used her football contacts within the game to good effect to arrange a pre-season clashes between Boughton and Birmingham Ladies, who finished fifth in the FA Women’s Premier League during the 2008/2009. It is the second time the two teams will have met. “It was funny,” said Scheuber. “The lads took it really seriously but the girls treated it as a friendly. It was a great match.” Boughton’s training timetable fits around Scheuber’s sessions with Birmingham City Ladies and her weekly work commitments as a data administrator in Christleton.

Scheuber manages Boughton on Saturdays before travelling to play for Birmingham City Ladies on Sundays. However, Scheuber no longer plays for England following a fall out with national team chiefs two years ago when they quizzed her commitment. “Women’s football has changed after the FA cut back our funding and some of the best players went to the professional league in the US,” said Scheuber.“I have responsibilities at Birmingham and at Boughton and, with the money for international players so poor now, it is not worth the hassle of finding time for yet another important commitment.“If more funding became available to make life easier I would consider it, as I feel I am missing out on a chunk of my career as a footballer. However, now I have plenty to occupy myself with.”

However, Heather has endured a difficult season both on and off the park, injured playing for Birmingham City Ladies earlier this season in the Clubs narrow defeat at the hands of Doncaster Rovers Belles a serious Knee injury has side-lined Scheuber for much of the season but having undergone a recent ACL operation to repair damaged anterior cruciate ligaments in her knee, she will be keen on get her boots back on once more for the start of the 2010/2011 but sadly for Heather both Birmingham City Ladies and Boughton Athletic are near the wrong end of their respective league tables the season draws to a conclusion.

SKY BLUES READY FOR PREMIER LEAGUE CHALLENGE

Coventry City Ladies Manager Paul Cudby is convinced his side is set for what looks to be a difficult up and coming season in top flight women's football, and believes his Sky Blues have what it takes to mount a credible challenge in the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division.

The ladies' kicked-off their campaign on a disappointing note on Sunday after going down 3-1 at Manchester City Ladies and although Cudby knows how demanding the new league will be, he is hopeful that baring injuries and with a slice of Lady luck, his Sky Blues side can preserve their place in the top flight division "Our first priority is to survive at the higher level first and foremost," said Cudby "It's a very tough and unforgiving league so hopefully we can make a decent start. If we can do that, get ourselves on a respectable run, get a little bit of luck with injuries and in-game decisions, then who knows as it's such a tight league."

After last terms' Championship winning season in-which the Sky Blues conquered the Midland Combination Women's Football League, Cudby has seen many changes over the summer months, but he has been touched by how his players have reacted. "Starting our reserves again and adding as many coaches to the structure as we have, this has meant a lot of change and adjustments. I'm really pleased with how everyone has responded to these changes though, and we're moving forward quicker than I thought we would, which is a credit to everyone at the club,.We've added several fresh faces, with a lot of experience to the exsisting squad, and I think it will be the key to see how the newcomers and existing players all interact, learn from each other and push each other on" One key component to last seasons title success was the addition of solid defender and dead ball specialist Leanne McKenna from City Combination rivals Copsewood Ladies along with the return of Jade Formaston.

As the new season heralds Cudby has signed a number of Birmingham City Ladies players, including Goalkeeper Susan Wood, Influential winger Christina Torkildsen along with Camilla Durrant, Defenders Faye Cardin, Michelle Hickmott and youngster Callum Barber another useful acquisition to Cudby stronger looking squad will be prolific goal-scorer Karen Clough, who was a regular on the score-sheet for Lichfield Diamonds in the West Midlands Regional ladies League.

Meantime the Sky Blues have a local derby over the August Bank Holiday Weekend when they take on near rivals Aston Villa Ladies in the FA Women's League Cup at Sidderley Avenue on Sunday 29th August Kick Off 2pm, Played on a league group bases Cudby's side will also face stern tests from Cardiff City and National League opponents Watford Ladies in their quest to progress into the last 16 of the Premier League Cup. The second round of games takes place on Sunday September 12th, with the final group games being staged on Sunday October 3rd. The two best-placed teams in each of the seven groups and the best two third placed teams will then progress to the knockout phase.

TIPTON TOWN GET F.A.S.T

For the 2008-09 football season, patient representatives with the Black Country Cardiovascular Network, proposed and developed a new scheme whereby football teams in the Black Country were donated football kit bearing the FAST stroke awareness and emergency 999 messages in support of a national risk awareness campaign by the Stroke Association and Department of Health. To date ten Black Country football teams have benefited by receiving new strips. The promotion has been a success both for the teams taking part and for the Network as successful in raising public awareness of stroke risk with the result that the scheme is being extended into the 2009-10 season. Tipton Town Ladies met with the Black Country Cardiovascular Network and some stroke victims, on Saturday when the Tipton Girls were presented with their new free kit. We were told who ever wears the new kit has never lost a game. So the Tipton Town Ladies who are currently floating around mid-table in the Birmingham Women’s Premier Division couldn’t resist a go. After drawing after extra time against Kenilworth Town in the Open Cup, we witnessed the kits magic when an own goal gave Tipton the lead.

The acronym FAST stands for; Facial weakness, Arm weakness, Speech problems and Time to ring 999. Dramatic improvements in stroke outcome are possible if the patient receives treatment within three hours of onset of stroke symptoms and this relies on rapid recognition of stroke by the general public. To this end a campaign known as FAST has been developed, which is a simple test to help ordinary people to recognise the signs of stroke and understand the importance of getting emergency treatment to the patient - fast. The acronym FAST stands for; Facial weakness, Arm weakness, Speech problems and Time to ring 999. A stroke can come on FAST and if you act FAST you don’t have to suffer its consequences

GILLS LAUNCH TV CHANNEL

Newly Promoted FA southern Leaguers Gillingham Ladies are proud to announce the launch of Gills Ladies TV in partnership with Purple Pig Productions.

The dedicated channel will have regular features and interviews across the football season from both the players and management. There will be highlights of games, and monthly roundups of both the First and Reserve teams. By working in partnership with Purple Pig Productions it allows the club to use specialist editors, voice over and graphics to make the finished products look as professional as possible. Chris Neilson Creative Director of Purple Pig Productions was only too keen to join forces with the number one women’s football team in Kent. He said: “Purple Pig Productions are very pleased to be a part of and this exciting new project with Gillingham Ladies FC, over the course of the season, we hope to develop a TV channel which any football club would be proud of.” The channel provides the club with a unique opportunity to add a unique feature to their already successful website.

The players are fully behind the venture and will be taking part in a number of features during training sessions and have suggested a number of fun features that they want to take part in during the season. It will be very much a learning curve for both Purple Pig and Gillingham Ladies but one that the Club have every confidence will add to the success on the pitch. First Team Manager Ian Varley is looking forward to fans being able to watch highlights of matches and interviews with players on a regular basis. He said: “Once Again the club continues to move forward off the pitch. The introduction of the TV channel is something I'm sure few clubs have, not even super league clubs and a huge thank you must go to our acting media manager Chris Dicketts and Chris Neilson from Purple Pig productions. The TV Channel will provide an insight into what goes on behind the scenes as well as match highlights, player interviews, training highlights and much more. The players will be treated like professional footballers and that's always the aim with everything we do. Over the past 12 months we have become the most talked about club in the game with our success both on and off the pitch, and we continue to set the bar in Women's Football in more ways than one ”

The channel will launch in August with footage and interviews from the Ladies pre-season games and training sessions. Speaking about the Clubs press and media coverage Director of Football Martin Andrews said " Here at Gillingham Ladies, I am building a team on and off the pitch to push up the Women's Football Pyarimid, We ourselves get good crowds, produce a quality match-day programme and have a fantastic informative website, which I would say is one of the best in women's football, For me the most important people are the press people, without them, we wouldn't get no coverage"

FA "NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE"

The Football Association has been labelled "not fit for purpose" by departed UK sports minister Richard Caborn. The FA has lost a sequence of chief executives and chairmen, while the over rated and over paid England soccer team also under performed at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. "Is the FA fit for purpose? No I don't think it is," Said Caborn, who spent six years as UK Sports Minster."I believe the governance of the game is not prepared to stand up to its responsibilities," added Caborn. "The FA need to say we have to look at ourselves very seriously, and we need to modernise ourselves. In Germany in 2000 there was a repositioning of the governing body of German football. I think that has been to the benefit of German football, and we are seeing some of those results at the current World Cup." Ex Labour MP Caborn went as far as to recommend that the time had come for English football's ruling body to "franchise out" the running of the FA Cup and Wembley - the stadium's £750m redevelopment has proven to be a huge economic strain - leaving the FA to focus on controlling the sport. "Should a governing body be running that as well as governing the sport?" questioned the 66-year-old former sports minister. "What is absolutely clear is they are the assets of football and those assets should be put back into the FA." Caborn's scornful criticism of the FA follows England's disgraceful exit from the World Cup which saw Fabio Capello's side well beaten 4-1 by Germany in the last 16 of the competition. England's uninspiring performances could not have come at a worst time with the Nationwide Building Society likely this week not to renew its profitable sponsorship deal with the FA, which has also been impeded by boardroom chaos over the last few months. In March, chief executive Ian Watmore left his Job after less than twelve months in the post because of differences with superior figures on the FA board. Soon after Watmore's departure, Lord Triesman stood down as chairman of the FA and the England 2018 World Cup bid after what he called "entrapment" by the Mail on Sunday newspaper.

Caborn refuted newspaper claims that he was interested in becoming the FA's next chairman - disputing a Mail on Sunday report - but urged that when the organization's new boss is appointed, he or she should be given the freedom to implement the recommendations of the Burns' report of 2005. Lord Burns' report raised concerns over differences of interest, a lack of representation for key groups and the excessive influence of the Premier League. Among his remedies were the creation of a "parliament of football" and three independent members on the FA board. His recommendations have still to be put in place."There were a whole set of recommendations from Burns that would make the FA a fit for purpose organisation," added Caborn, who believes that the FA needs a non-executive chair and a non-executive director. "If we don't then unfortunately we are going to see a lot more of the type of debacles we saw against Germany. You've got to get the FA to accept that whoever is going to come in is going to have the right to implement the Burns' report and be supported in doing that," said Caborn. "It is about independent directors saying there is a time for change." As well as the FA's inactivity over the Burns' report, Caborn quizzed why it had failed to carry out many of Richard Lewis's 2007 recommendations to improve youth football and the country's academy system. Caborn questions the future of the FA "What you've got to look at is the system of development of our players through both the professional game and through the amateur game," said Caborn, who was the sports minister during London's successful bid to host the 2012 Olympics. We have more reports and investigations then anyone else, and even though they are largely accepted they are never implemented. We can't just deal with the symptoms, we have to get to the root of the problem. English football and the Premier League have to come together to develop young English players."

Recently, Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan called for the Premier League to take over the running of the England Football team. Caborn resisted calls for that. However, he called on the FA to start working more effectively with the Premier League for the good of the game and the national side. "I think it is in the interests of everyone to work in partnership rather than work against each other," said Caborn. The FA has also been criticised for its contract negotiations with manager Capello, offering him a new deal in the run-up to the World Cup, rather than waiting to see how the Italian performed in South Africa. Many now argue it's only the fact the FA could not afford to sack Capello and pay him off with a Twelve Million Pound Golden Handshake that he still remains in his job. Apart from being a Football Manager in today's hard times what other job would be as Lucrative as being a National Football Flop and only one springs to mind being a Member Of Paliement.

However, Caborn, who stood down as Sheffield Central MP after 17 years before the last general election, Supported the FA's judgement to keep Capello "I'm pleased the FA have continued to support the manager, I think that is right," he said. "Whenever we have problems it becomes a debate about the manager or the chief executive, and you can't keep getting rid of the managers and the chief executives without looking at the reasons. "We are continually dealing with the symptoms and not the cause." Very few people have any faith in the FA millions of pounds wasted in Respect and Kicking Racism Out of Football Campaigns, which are not working as the tax players plough thousands upon thousands of pounds into this, and you can't keep getting rid of the managers and the chief executives without looking at the reasons. "We are continually dealing with the symptoms and not the cause." Very few people have any faith in the FA millions of pounds wasted in Respect and Kicking Racism Out of Football Campaigns, which are not working as the tax players ploughs thousands upon thousands of pounds into this organization, which lost the plot many years ago the self destruction of the beautiful game starts at the front door of the FA tomorrows Football Supporters are being priced out and the future of the game looks more and more bleak, Football is no longer a sport just a lucrative money making business One Premiership Midlands Football Club charges over £500 per child for kids to be mascots that's over Five Grand just for the team taking a bunch of 11 Kids on to the Pitch before a game, but as the England Flops are questioned as to why they have failed look no further than these excesses, The FA Premier League, Over Paid Over Rated Players, Lack Of Passion, To Many Oversees Players, Sky Sports, Poor Coaching, Too Much Football and Clubs, who are Businesses hell bent on just making massive profits to justify paying players Twenty Thousand Pounds a week, Football in the Community is dead these Clubs are only interested in one thing Profiteering at the expensive of Football Supporters did anyone see those over rated over paid Professional Footballers going over to thank Fans, who had spent Thousands supporting them...No, Portsmouth, Southend United, Crystal Palace, Cardiff City among many others were on the brink of collapse last season, Maidstone United was the last Football League Club to collapse but for how long. Demonstrations at Manchester United Liverpool and such top club about the way these clubs were being run show what Supporters think, but perhaps England Fans should take a leaf out of the book of domestic supporters by staging their own demonstrations outside Wembley Stadium because as Public, FA and Government enquires examine the failure of English Football its clear to see the game and those running it have gone backwards but many clubs are out of touch with their own Community, but as they price supporters out of their seats tomorrows football future hangs in the balance.

LOCAL RESIDENTS SLAM "FA DIRTY TRICKS SPONSOR TESCO" IN SHERRINGHAM BATTLE

Every Little Hurts is the clear message as Norfolk Residents slam a dirty tricks campaign carried by FA Women's Football Sponsor Tesco. Campaigners fighting a decade-long battle against the arrival of a planned Tesco superstore claim they have been sabotaged by "dirty tricks" involving the fabrication of letters of support for a planning application in the Norfolk seaside town of Sherringham. Claim and counter-claim have been flying thick and fast in Sheringham in Norfolk for years over the proposed arrival of the £62bn-a-year retail giant but the latest twist has surprised even seasoned observers. Dozens of "residents" purporting to come from the town have had letters published in local newspapers in recent months, backing the arrival of Britain's biggest retailer and criticising an alternative scheme put forward by a local landowner and competitors Waitrose. After becoming suspicious about what appeared to be a sudden surge of support for Tesco, campaigners began investigating the letters and asked residents and postmen whether they knew the correspondents. No one did and publicly available electoral and phone records for the streets on which they claimed to live indicate that the pro-Tesco letter writers did not, actually, exist and were, in fact, allegedly written Tesco's own staff employees.

Tesco who sponsors top flight women's football in the UK recently named another Organization that has been embroiled in controversy both internally and externally Arsenal Ladies FC as its " Team Of The Year" speaking to Reporters former Ladies team-chief Tony Gervaise, who played Professional football for Scottish League side Falkirk FC revealed he had been intimidation and Interfered with during his rein in command at the so-called UK Number One Domestic Women's Football Club, which had led to his resignation after just 20 games in command speaking of the internal Inference and bully boy tactics 54 year old Gervaise speaking to the Press revealed " He would not have stepped down from the number one Job in British women's Football had he not been for internal bully boy tactics and interference in his management style of the team Gervaise was demoted to Academy Director having. Initially been thrust into the top job by Vic Akers. Gervaise also lambasted current boss 30 year old Laura Harvey, who has achieved nothing within the game "domestically the foundations were laid by others for Harvey's one title success this season. However, the catastrophic FA Cup Defeat was due solely to Harvey's poor Management style and skills Gervaise told Reporters off the record.

Laura Harvey joined the Gunners after a six year spell at Midlands Club Birmingham City Ladies and was promoted from within the role of Assistant Academy Director to First Team Manager, After Gervaise was served with an ultimatum to quit the top Job, Gervaise still insists he was sacked by Arsenal Furthermore, admitting he would not have quit the number one job had he not been sacked Gervaise also outlined how, the clubs' bully-boy tactics both internally and externally through its own club staff, employees and officials tries to Intimidate all people working within football. Gervaise admitted the flawed FA Respect Programme was not working, Asked about the conduct and attitude of so-called Club Superstars like England Skipper Faye White, who the Press witnessed walking past and snubbing fans and a disabled Supporters at the City Ground waiting for Photos and Autographs of her after the side where beaten in this years' FA Cup Final Gervaise indicated this was in-bread Ignorant and Arrogent Club Policy, asked about special and favourable treatment Gervaise Laughed "We are the mighty Arsenal We Can Do What We Like" while still bitter and reeling from his shock sacking hard talking Tony Gervaise maintains he was dismissed by Arsenal Ladies FC after just 20 games in change of the North London Club in favour of Laura Harvey "I had no reason what-so-ever to Quit The Job" Insisted Gervaise.

One Press Photographer standing outside the players' tunnel which witnessed the event said " Whites' attitude and conduct on the day in question was wholly consistent with Arsenal Ladies being Very Bad Losers, White walked straight past waiting fans and a disabled supporter throwing her nose and head in the air snubbing fans and a disabled girl with equal vigour who were waiting near the appointed FA Team Coach for memorabilia, including Photos and Autographs, it was clear so called superstar White had a clear case of the Moddy Blues after losing, But just shows the win at all costs mentally womens football is now breading, The game is dying and doomed, and tomorrows players will play in front of empty stadiums' Greed is the only motivation in today's modern game, and this woman is Skipper of the England National Women's Soccer team with such bad morals and ethics? The only thing that concerned Faye White was thoughts of losing her large Win Bonus as she personally took out defeat on waiting fans, Miserable White is sadly not a role model but a fine example of the poor way some of the Country leading and top Women players portray themselves both in the public eye and media spotlight"

The accolade by Tesco's to Arsenal Ladies FC as "Team Of The Year" is a kick in the teeth for all good clubs, and their gutter standards and actions are just about suited to each other principles and polices of being bad losers in all contests. The Monopoly and Mergers commission should eradicate Tesco from the high street the self destructing force Tesco's have on other retailers is shocking. We have been inundated with phonecalls for banking services, Car Insurance, Delivery of Groceries and Mail Order goods in the past 12 months from Tesco's they are a bad influence, Tesco's like Greedy Football Clubs believe they can buy their way into everything they want, the People of Sherringham In Nortfolk have won a major victory and hit Tesco for Six!

Final Score Sherringham 6 Tesco's 0
